I think bunnies should be a symbol for autism a thread.

When bunnies are happy they cant help but jump around in excitement, these are called binkies. I think binkies are very comparable to stimming behaviour like hand flappies

Bunnies are very skittish animals, like autistic people they are overstimulated by loud noises, strong smells, and bright lights

Bunnies do not express emotions like dogs and cats do, making it difficult for people to understand them and people think they simply cannot experience these emotions

Autism really lacks symbols that aren’t rooted in hatred, such as the puzzle piece and the colour blue. I think bunnies are an excellent option, they’re gentle creatures and a compliment to be compared to.

I’ll probably add to this thread as time goes by but I’m going to be using bunnies as a symbol for autistic people from now on

Also please remember that even if we use bunnies as a symbol do not infantilise us! We are human and deserve respect

someone pointed out that allistics could use the rabbit symbolism as a way to infantilize us and honestly my response is I do not care for allistics opinions on literally anything

I do not plan to ever change the way I behave in order to appear more human to allistic people. It is their responsibility to understand us and listen to us. No matter what symbolism we use people will find a way to twist it, so we might as well have a symbol we enjoy

I also want to point out that my proposition isn't the One and Only symbol out there, we also have the colour red and the rainbow, but we can have as many symbols as we want! This is just something I really connect with.

And from the response I've recieved, it seems a lot of people are also connecting with it!

A thing I’m gonna do from now on is keep a emoji in my bio as a subtle symbol, since I don’t have enough characters to fully put autistic.
