1. #COVID19 Case Fatality Rate in #Lebanon is about 2.2%. This is to correct about 0.94% reported ( @mophleb). Denominator should include only cases that had the 'opportunity' to die/be in numerator. This means case count stops 3wks ago (min.); most occur 3-4weeks of infection.
2. Specifically, total cases up to 14 Aug. is 8432; total deaths up to 4 Sep. is 182. So 182/8432=2.2%. More precise work would also exclude imported cases & their deaths altogether. But clearly more than double the reported figure. ( @mophleb please correct, thx). @WHOLebanon
3. This is still lower than 3-4% more common in many places, but the CFR depends on variable factors incl. testing approach, age, comorbidities, treatment. So altogether, roughly, #COVID19 death rate not unusual in #Lebanon.
4. To be fair, there are some countries that do not do this the correct way, but it matters a lot less for their figures, because their numbers are much higher; in #Lebanon we got most of our cases in past three weeks, so the error is much larger, unless its corrected.
5. I do not think this was intentionally done, esp. when many others make similar error. But it is misleading esp. considering above explanation of Lebanese timeline. So it should be corrected. /End
