The LGBTQIA+ people's perfectionism & overachieving is NOT coming out of thin air. It's born out of trying to be acceptable & survive from an early age. From childhood we experienced hate & learnt we can be killed anytime, before we even understood sexuality, gender or phobias.
From childhood as LGBTQIA+ we thought meeting ideals (incuding beauty, having money, degrees and good manners etc) will save us. We were always trying to prove our worth. We thought there's something about us that we need to fix in order to be loved & accepted and NOT be killed.
Of course as LGBTQIA+ adults, we will up hold the most ideal views about beauty, be classist & elitist. We will be conservative & self-hating. We internalise LGBTQIA+phobias. It's unsurprising because that is what society taught us and we learnt these to negotiate our survival.
So, trades, DLs, closets, etc. are logical outcomes of this. Extreme fatphobia, femmephobia, use of drugs, wreckless sex, toxic relationships etc. obviously will dominate the LGBTQIA+ community consequently. Imagined if LGBTQIA+ were loved&completely accepted as children; learnt about sexuality&gender as teens; be ourselves & love without society hating/killing us; be ourselves and bring our partners home with no consequences but love &encouragement; healthcare was accessible etc.
Society created these conditions that have us visit bath-houses to enjoy our bodies & find intimacy even if its temporarily; where we think beauty, money, over-achieving etc will shield us from their hate & possibly from being murdered. Gay (toxic) culture is born out of this.
Not to mention that whatever knowledge our LGBTQIA+ ancestors accumulated over millenias is not passed down because we could not form communities until recently, our life expectancies are the lowest of all groups, we are hunted and killed with impunity to this day etc.
Our LGBTQIA+ culture is denied its evolution. Every other generation is starting almost from base zero. We are probably the 1st generation to have almost all civil rights, even that happens in some countries and our siblings in other countries do not enjoy the few rights we have.
