Alternative fact: Muguta Ya Butaho was a hero of the Bariisa kingdom in present day Buhweju. He was actually an enemy of Nkore. He is largely remembered for his fierce battle with Nkore's Ntsinga ya Nyarihima, a story that was overly exaggerated that it even took a mystic turn https://twitter.com/mkainerugaba/status/1302437789045268481
He was larger than life, and he reached the height of his career as the commander of the king's Enkondami (Bariisa's army) during the reign of Kabundami in 1860's. Historically, the Barisa were a vassal state of Bunyoro, & Muguta played the greatest role to bring this to an end.
It was customary that whenever Omukama of Bunyoro died, the Mukama of Buhweju would be taken to be executed. This time, Kabundami sent Muguta in his place, dressed in execution robes, and the army as the escorts. When the executors raised the axe, Muguta leaped in the air.....
...overpowering his captors, and putting an end to that brutal tradition.... Born in the royal lineage, he protected the territories of Mashaija and Nkondo drums, and led raids in Nkore and even Buganda, and Jinja. He conquered Kashari and Nshaara when Ntare weakened Bunyoro.
He was passionately patriotic, and worked so had to leave his kingdom on a map. And that he achieved it....By April 1901 when Mbaguta connived with the British army to force Ndagara, the last king of Bariisa to recognize Nkore as the only kingdom, Buhweju was very successful.
@MugutaYB the real descendant of those heroes knows this better.
