FFS pollies saying we need to "get back to work", "hiding under the doona", "enjoying the Jobkeeper/Jobseeker lifestyle". Meanwhile, your lot pulled the pin at the first sign of trouble, sitting at home making curries at taxpayers expense
Even when you do turn up to work, it's officially called 'sitting'. Never done a day of hard labour in your lives. Pull your spoiled rich heads in.
PS. Your fresh produce is still on your dinner plate, your utilities are still running, your missus is still being served in the supermarket, your bin is still being emptied, your pizza is still being delivered. A lot of us are still working. We never stopped.
(And we're doing it for less than one fifth of what you lot are getting paid to stay at home)
Actually, while I'm on the subject, there's been a lot of Jobkeeper/Jobseeker talk lately - about the rates being cut, about the discrepancy between the two payments, about it creating 'two tiers' of people. These are important discussions and I don't want to take away from that.
I'd just like to point out that there are actually THREE tiers, the third being the low-paid, heavily casualised, "essential" workforce, many of whom didn't lose their jobs or even lose shifts, thus not being entitled to any support whatsoever
In fact, things like the loss of overseas workers, panic buying in shops, dramatic rise in home delivery demand, jacked up cleaning schedules, etc, have meant that a lot of those people are working far harder than they used to, in the same hours, for the same low rate
If your ALREADY LOW income - comparable to Jobkeeper/Jobseeker amounts for many - didn't drop significantly due to COVID, there's no negotiating reduced rent or bill payment extensions, no early access to super, you're still paying for transport and other work-related expenses
And to be clear, the reason I'm saying this is not "wahhhh, other people are getting money and we're not". It's because, YET AGAIN, low paid casual workers are being blamed for causing recent COVID outbreaks, by not taking time off at the first hint of a sniffle
WE. CAN'T. Not only do we not have paid sick leave (or savings), but for many, their already insecure casual job has been made even more precarious by the aforementioned increase in workload.
Say, a pizza delivery dude, whose boss once threatened him with the sack after he called in sick, leaving only one driver to deliver 30 pizzas. How's that boss gonna react now that they're delivering 300 pizzas a night?
I, and countless others, have been saying this for months. Leaving us unsupported and vulnerable has already, and will continue to, put the rest of the country at risk. https://twitter.com/deltrimental/status/1250913232585293825?s=19
