Put my college students in breakout rooms to create their own class rules for the semester. Here are some of their words:

- It’s isolating to look only at blank boxes, but also some days we just want to listen. If we need a day when we turn the camera off the entire class, we will email you ahead of time to check in.
- It’s ok to come to class in bed, on the floor, etc. We don’t all have desks.

- Please leave the chat feature open. It helps us stay focused and connected, and if something happens that makes us uncomfortable in the room, or that we want to say without a parent overhearing us, it’s a private way to reach out to you.
