Small AU idea.
BingQiu as movie actors ✨🎥🎞️

---
Binghe was so excited, he was finally selected to be in a movie where his idol Shen Qingqiu, was also going to be in!!

The elusive actor rarely makes a public appearance ever since his success in 'Laments of Shen Jiu'.
The movie was critically acclaimed and a raging success. However SQQ has claimed that the movie took a mental toll on him and had to take a break from acting, disappearing from the public.

But now, for reasons unknown, SQQ was back!
Binghe sighed, happy hearts literally blooming like flowers around him as he rolled around on his bed. He was going to work with his Shizun again!

Long ago, when Binghe was but a baby duckling, he worked alongside a kind, but aloof actor who eventually became his mentor.
--
"Binghe, there's no need to call this old man your 'Shizun'," SQQ murmured, a silent laugh beneath his lips.

Binghe only shook his head, eyes bright and starry, "Shizun is Shizun! Binghe will forever hold Shizun in his heart for the great care he was shown!"
--
His movie debut was a stunning success, and yet as Binghe goes to try and thank the older man, he vanished.

Binghe had searched high and low, yet the man never appeared before him again.

There were many, many pining and sobbing moments of Binghe crying to a magazine ad
of SQQ advertising a bottle of tea.

But now! Now he has no reason to cry! Because he's finally going to be reunited with Shizun again!

Binghe looked back at the book in his hands. The drama was heavily adapted from a popular webnovel and Binghe was going to do research!
Three days of sobbing later, Binghe was ready for the team meeting.

The director was going to announce to the whole cast their selected roles in the movie. He was famously dramatic like that.

Sliding into a seat with his nameplate, Binghe held his breath, excited and nervous
all at the same time. SQQ's nameplate was two seats away.

He. Could. Squeal.

Vibrating in his seat, he nodded to the man in a red sweater who sat next to him as he remained focused on the doorway.

His heart beats faster in his chest as he heard a mellow tone greet the room.
It was like a celestial fairy descended down from the mountains.

The bright windows casted SQQ in a soft halo, enveloping him in a mysterious aura as he appeared to glide across the room in even steps, silently slipping into his seat.

Binghe died and went to heaven.
'Stay cool! Stay cool!'

Adjusting his facial expressions to something he hoped would be 'devilishly handsome', Binghe gave a small smile to SQQ.

"Shizun, it's nice to see you again. It has been a while."

SQQ's eyes widened before he nodded silently, then turning
back to face the room.

To say Binghe looked like a deflated balloon would not be inaccurate.

Not to worry! There will be more time to chat later! Shizun's just being professional right now!

Later, he will give Shizun his brightest smile and take him out to dinner!
Thoughts of an extravagant dinner alone with Shizun was halted when the director announced the casting.

SQQ, his Shizun, his true love, his very heart and soul, was casted as: Chu Wanning.

This was no surprise. Binghe knows the book, read it front and back and cried for days.
SQQ would be the perfect Shizun. Cool, elegant, s̶e̶x̶y̶, Binghe has no doubt that SQQ would be able to steal the hearts of the viewers.

Binghe's mind reeled as he imagined himself to be selected as Mo Ran. Disciple turned lover, but also a hateful tyrant in a past life.
Their love would build, slowly, sweetly, painfully. The author certainly did not pull any punches, embedding knives everywhere.
The S-rank star actor Binghe blushed as /other/ scenes in the novel flashed through his mind.

If he was casted as Mo Ran,
then he would-
Shizun would-
they would-

He knows the drama wouldn't truly depict scenes like that in great detail yet his mind supplied, turning
Binghe into a lovely steamed bun.

Yet the lovely visions in his head stopped again as the director announced the rest of the cast selections.

His heart nearly stopped as his eyes widened. The man next to him glanced at him in concern.
Binghe was casted as Xue Meng, the little peacock and Mo Ran's annoying little cousin.

He was not casted to be Shizun's love.

Instead, the role of Mo Ran and Taxian-jun was given to the man in red next to him: Hua Cheng.
Binghe glanced at the taller man.

Long sleek hair, a permanent smug grin, perfect eyebrows. Hua Cheng was also an S-rank actor with an impeccable status.

Binghe felt his blood boil as he noticed his Shizun gave a soft smile to the man. His heart stuttered when he noticed SQQ
blushing when the man grinned back.

Hua Cheng smirked, leaning back on his chair, "It will be my pleasure to work with you SQQ."

SQQ blushed at the mischievous eye brow wiggle and glanced away, "I will be in your care."

Binghe wanted to cry. This wasn't fair!
*cue Binghe becoming a sad vinegary mess for the rest of the AU. Idk I like the idea of Binghe becoming a jealous mess.

Hua Cheng is simply Not Affected and is amused by Binghe's antics.

SQQ is none the wiser until, like, the halfway mark of some climatic scene. Perhaps going
through Chu Wanning's thought processes will help him realize he may in fact, like Binghe. Perhaps more than he initially thought.

Then he'd go back in denial saying he should actually be acting affectionate for Hua Cheng. For both the acting, and the promotional bromance.
--
Binghe wasn't casted as Mo Ran by the request of SQQ.

The director had asked why and SQQ simply stated that he didn't want Binghe to mentally suffer from the heavy role as Mo Ran like SQQ had with his time as SJ.
So the director agreed and called in someone with more experience and equally handsome for the role as Mo Ran.

Hua Cheng then comes in like a boss. Knocking everyone out with his acting skills.

Initially he teases Binghe, noticing the younger man's affection for his co-star.
However, after some hijinks, Hua Cheng eventually becomes bro's with Binghe.

Especially after Binghe introduced him to a volunteer soup kitchen that he frequents, with Xie Lian as the manager.

Side note: Binghe has a drinking buddy by the name of Wei Wuxian.
---
"Too young!"

An empty glass slammed down onto the counter as a man with wavy hair drunken rambled at his friend.

"How young!? Since when was age a feature!? I would've been the perfect Mo Ran!"

Wei Wuxian chuckled at the crying man as he called over more shots.
Wwx knows from experience to just let Binghe cry it out.

"You don't understand hic, Wwx," Binghe sobbed, "It's Shizun. Looking at /him/ all day. Smiling at him. Working with him. What does he have that I don't!?

Shizun in his arms. Shizun blushing at him. No nonoo boohoo QQ."
Wwx just sighed, "It's all just an act, no?"

Binghe just wailed, broken hearts floating in the air around him.

"Nnnooo you don't understaaand. Now Shizun will never see me more than a kid. Being casted as Mo Ran was my once chance at getting Shizun to finally look at me."
Wwx sighed as he patted the fluffy head in front of him. Binghe was such a sad drunk.
