THREAD: Are any other musicians concerned about the fact that EVERYTHING is streamed now? Weddings, choral services, concerts... Yes, I'm grateful they exist, but I certainly know that my playing changes when I know it's being recorded and put on the internet - safer, fewer risks
..Choral Evensong is a good example. Part of what makes the Evensong education so brilliant is that it allows mistakes - the rainy Tuesday evening rendition of Byrd Teach me O Lord that gives the youngest choristers the chance to sing their 1st solos. Pressure, but not too much.
@russellhoward walked out of a gig recently because someone was filming him while he was testing out new material. Classical musicians have a similar need to test things out in front of an audience without it being immortalised on the internet.
Don't get me wrong - I think it's BRILLIANT that so many places are embracing streaming & it certainly has the potential to increase accessibility. I just hope that these places will also have the courage, just occasionally, to turn the cameras off.
