So to be clear. In our meeting with @Ofstednews last term myself and @cyclingkev made it absolutely clear that it was the @NEUnion position that Ofsted should not make visits to schools this term. https://twitter.com/ofstednews/status/1301876398102114305
We told @Ofstednews that schools would be under huge pressure dealing with education in a pandemic. We said that @Ofstednews visits would pile on uneccessary, extra pressure. The only visits we supported were in the case of safeguarding concerns.
I am getting heartily sick of government agencies and the DfE repeating endlessly that unions have been ‘fully involved’ with their nonsense policies. What that means is that we have been told they are going to happen anyway and invited to comment round the edges.
This government and its agencies do not know the meaning of consultation in any real sense. Rather, they use ‘consultation’ to provide a veneer of consensus where little or none exists.
The real purpose of @Ofstednews visits to schools this term is to give inspectors something to do and to lever them back into inspection which they plan to recommence in January 2021. I think it highly likely that the conditions will not be suitable for school inspection by then.
