What do the suggestive Black Wolf of Canada and the proud Gray Wolf have in common with the two beautiful girls both from North Europe in the picture? Why do some Europeans (non-Mediterranean) have black hair? Is black hair an original European feature? Read the thread below!
Part 1)The Black Wolf of Canada is a melanistic local version of the normal Gray Wolf. Was born with first European colonization of Canada when there was a hybridization between a Gray Eolf and a st.John domestic dog (ancestor of Labrador Retriever),perhaps a single individual...
*Wolf not Eolf
Part 2)Puppies born from this old(and unique)Wolf-Dog hybridization continued to live with the Gray Wolves and continued to breed with them for subsequent generations. Progressively their descendants returned to being Gray Wolves but with black fur, extremely dominant genetically.
Part 3)Genetic analysis found no difference between Gray and a Black,Black wolves breed gray puppies and vice versa(gray gene is submerged but not extinguished in black individuals),but they are identical genetically.Obvious that black fur is NOT an original feature of species...
Part 4)Single old hybridization can in fact generate a melanistic variation(of a very dominant gene),while keeping species genetically intact, black hair is NOT a native European feature but is the result of ancient mixtures with small and limited groups of non-European immigrants
Part 5)TOTALLY different are mass migrations, where large number of individuals hybridize with others, completely modifying species and forever altering original genetics. In this case,no longer speak of "Wolves",and this has happened in various European areas. Thanks for reading!
