[I-LAND's Hanbin Master Thread and Why He Needs (and deserves) You're Support!]

Here we will discuss who he is, his skills, and how he's currently at risk and how you can help!

~Who is Hanbin?~

Real Name: Ngô Ngọc Hưng
Nickname: Hubi
Nationality: Vietnamese
Age: 22 (Born in January '98)

Now, that's just the basic information. What else is known about him? Well, before Joining I-LAND he was not only the leader, but the FOUNDER of the k-pop cover dance crew C.A.C, who recently won a cover contest for Treasure's song "Boy"

~Fun Facts~
Now, these are just going to be some interesting facts about Hanbin so you can know him better. These don't have to influence you to vote, but I just thought it'd be nice to include!

Firstly, this boy is a CAT DAD. He has two instagrams for them (which are still up!) for his Cat (deva.meow) and Cat's 6 kittens (hubi.cats)!

And Finally; if he debuts, he WILL be the first Vietnamese K-Pop idol. Of course, this shouldn't determine your vote as you should vote based off of talent and personality, but I thought it was still a neat fact to bring up!

~I-LAND~

Now that you've seen how he was BEFORE I-LAND, How about now? Does he still hold up? Well I'd say so. He (in my, and many other's opinions) think he has potential to be an all rounder.

Not only can he speak 3 languages (Korean, English and of course Vietnamese), but he's also a visual, a phenomenal dancer AND vocalist, but also has shown great potential as a rapper. Below I will show some of his fancams since joining I-LAND.

~Personality~

Now, another common appeal for idols is their personalities, right? Well what's Hanbin like? Well basically in short, he's a very supportive Hyung to the other trainees. He never fails to cheer on the others, even if they rank higher than him.

He comforts them when they're down, gives them advice, and even won't take a good spot if he feels it belongs to someone else.

~Evil Editing and Why He Needs Help~

Now, this actually leads me to my next point. So, if he's so amazing, why does he need more support? He's already placed 4th isn't he? He should be fine..right? Well actually, he's still very much at risk of not getting in.

You see, he's only recently gotten this attention from his performances of DNA and especially Dive Into You. Before this, people often wrote him off as the "vietnamese trainee with no confidence" because of how he's presented in the show.

He was the very first trainee sent to the Ground, and he never left it until the very end where fan voting just barely saved him.

MNet rarely gives him screentime, and when it does, it's usually not good. One of his first prominent moments of screentime he got was when he was practicing their song "into the I-LAND" and he was struggling a bit to hit the higher notes and also mispronounced the Korean lyrics.

Then, later in the show, they had unit performances, and while the original lineup for the dance unit was Ni-Ki, Nicholas and Jaeho, Ni-Ki recommended Hanbin to switch with Jaeho since he felt he fit the style.

Hanbin was hesitant to do so because he felt bad taking that spotlight from Jaeho, but after talking a bit more, Hanbin decided to try it out.

Now, soon after this the mentors came in to evaluate the performance, and since Hanbin hadn't been practicing for nearly as long as the others, he fell behind and they decided to switch back to Jaeho since he was already familiar with the moves.

This gave non-hannies the impression that Hanbin wasn't a very good performer, whether it be in singing or dancing. However, as you all probably saw before with his other fancams, you see that's simply not the case.

Then, later in the show, for the next test Hanbin decided he'll take what he wants immediately instead of last time where he just let Jaeho have the spot he wanted. He rose his hand for 1st position in their I&CREDIBLE performance, and got it! Now that's great, right?

Well, after the I-LANDers performed their version of the performance, the eliminated I-LANDers were all of a sudden sent to the ground, and Hanbin went from having first position to only getting one line.

But despite all of that he's made onto I-LAND through the skin of his teeth. So, he must get more screentime now, right? Well not exactly..they still cut him whenever given the chance.

In Ep 9, the only screentime he got was when he ate a banana and said "my banana is broken"

And in the recent Ep 10, when they lined up to show their individual dancing, they skipped ONLY his. They also didn't show the message he gave another member nor the one he received from a member.

But I hear you saying "Well he's still 4th, so he must have a big enough fanbase to save him, right?" well, possibly not quite true. Now, I-LAND fans can only vote for 1 member instead of two.

So while Hanbin was many peoples 2nd pic after their fav, now it's sort of every fan for themselves where everyone is voting for their #1 pick. Basically, no one's safe. Especially Hanbin.

Not only is he Vietnamese, so he faces a lot of xenophobia, but he's also 22. So, even though he's still very much young, he's getting to an age where it may be harder for him to debut. So that, and many other reasons, are why we need your help.

~How Can You Help?~

But, you yourself can at least vote once a day and tell your friends to do the same. We need him to debut, and for that he needs your help.
