if i could give an academic tip to anyone — don’t study something you don’t like. you’re feeling unsure? unsatisfied? pressured? like everything you do is a chore? your mind knows. you are REJECTING your major. please listen to it
if you have adhd/add, or a learning disability you’re using 10x brain power to get through it too.

you’re hurting and forcing yourself. please have a talk with your inner self and allow yourself to explore academia healthily
despite the pressure that is applied to you, it is time to break out of your mold. defy expectations. you have to realize no one is living your life but you. ALLOW yourself to live for yourself
wanting to be the perfect child is something lots of young adults experience. living up to your parents’ expectations is not your responsibility. i believe in your capacity to establish boundaries ‼️
depression will beat the shit out of you if you go against your own motivations & desires.

YOU KNOW what you do doesn’t make you happy so BE the change you need. be brave. BE who you looked up to as a kid
psa. you will not grow out of disliking what you do if you try it for “one more year”

you will be forcing the fuck out of yourself and you’ll be wondering why you’re feeling so empty. value your MH over expectations you have of yourself
coming back to this thread just to say i wish i could do a ted talk on this. people shouldn’t have to pay for higher education in order to realize their motivations *are* extrinsic rather than intrinsic
i’ve thought about volunteering to be a mentor to new students on their first week but i am stupid busy. otherwise i have too much experience with this, and i KNOW lots of people could use this scam cam
