Andre Young is damn near a billionaire. Nicole Young’s line items in her spousal support request after 24 years of marriage are above my paygrade.

Since a lot of #yall can only see women in terms of service providers and not partners, consider this as Dre’s wife retiring after 24 years from an 800 million dollar company that she helped build and ran as a senior exec.

Because nothing she’s asking for, that I can see, is gonna hit Dre’s pockets in any way he can feel.

She’s just requesting TEMPORARY support while they go through proceedings. It’s pretty clear they not just gonna chop his sh*t in half and keep it moving. I also doubt Dre has an issue with any of this.

What sucks is that even if Dre & Nicole asked for their filings to be sealed like Adele did, evrybody would be speculating just based of Dre’s worth. I was just telling someone else we be making ALOT of judgements on money amounts we ain’t never even been close to in a real way

FYI, Nicole’s request is based on the PRE-SET BUDGET LINE ITEMS you have to fill out in the state of California for spousal support. There is no room for write in, so lawyers probably have to be creative.

In some states it’s just automatically based on income, in which case Dre would potentially be on the hook for more.

This is the second time someone asked me this, and we have to start with “this level”.

Dre makes an estimated 127M per year. If this was 127,000 a year, this is an ask of 2K a month, which is a below average monthly budget in some states.

A couple of things about “if roles were reversed:”
We don’t have the roles reversed convo @ Black celebs much bc we haven’t seen many splits publicly in the TMZ era where the Black woman is the significantly wealthier party instead of 2 celebs...

The biggest example is Mary and Kendu, and the outrage on Mary’s behalf was because Kendu was already getting 15 - 20% of her earnings as her manager, in addition to profiting from shared household income from those same earnings, was cheating...

The thing is, studies - almost ALL the studies - will confirm that marriage is detrimental to a woman’s earning potential over a span of time like 20+ years where it increases a man’s earning potential.

In the case of Nicole, would she stand to earn a few hundred mil if she weren’t married to Dre? Probably not. But she’s a lawyer, and married him when he was rebuilding after two trash deals with NWA and Death Row, and before Aftermath.

Dre had made his name already, but terrible business decisions. (Y’all saw the movie)

I remember dudes on the TL were having heart palpitations over Jeff Bezoz’s divorce settlement as though ANY OF US can even wrap our minds around his wealth.

So my point in all this long ass thread has been - y’all know how the Bible says Jesus’ thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways? We gotta apply that to multi-millionaires when it comes to living expenses, budgets, overhead, taxes, etc too.

Dre’s money is also not finite. He can sit in his living room and stare at the wall for the rest of his life if he wants to, and he’ll be fine (as he’s proven to us by his utter disinterest in making music). Again, folks processing this sh*t with the wrong cpu.
