(1/7)Attention - young people getting into activism:
First of all, I truly commend you. Caring about and being broken-hearted by the hardships of other humans is a good thing. Keep caring and working to fight against injustice productively.
(2/7) That being said, be careful how you are directing your anger. Demanding social media behaviors from your favorite celebrities and then threatening to defame them if they do not use their social media accounts the way you demand is ludicrous.
(3/7)Especially when those celebrities have spent years communicating via their art and in the way they live their lives that every individual’s life has immense purpose and that no person is inferior to another.
(4/7)Many people choose not to air their whole lives and every thought on social media - this is healthy. It is too easy for people to be disingenuous on social media, so please stop making judgments about people based on what they do or do not use their social media account for.
(5/7)My mom has never tweeted “black lives matter”, but I know that she believes it because she has spent my whole life teaching me the value of human life and that no human is superior to another.
(6/7)Social media can be a lot of fun and can even be quite a useful tool, but please don’t make the mistake of defining people by their social media accounts. Social media is too often fickle and vapid,
(7/7)so please don’t get so sucked into social media life that you are making judgments about other people based on their decisions to use it discretely. That is everyone’s personal choice, and frankly we could all probably benefit from using it a bit less.
