for a long time I’ve talked about how I want to spread kindness and create a safe space, but it’s important to acknowledge that kindness and safety are thrown out the window if someone shows bigotry or makes others feel unsafe. so my real motto is “do no harm but take no shit”.

this is something I’m thinking about a lot going through Plant Army apps. a lot of people talk about creating positive, cozy, safe spaces, but those are such buzzwords that are losing meaning the more we use them without explaining how we’re actively cultivating that safe space.

who is welcome and who is unwelcome in your community? how do you actively cultivate a place free of hate and bigotry? and beyond that, how do you use your platform to amplify marginalized voices and help those who need it? questions we all need to think about consistently.
