At past 23hrs, I was just from studying and getting into bed, my phone buzzed. A text message, knowing Mum and my Sunflower had gone to sleep, I didn’t care who texted. In the morning, as I rode to work with my brother in- law, I began checking my notifications. After a minute or two, I scrolled down and responded to my Sunflower’s texts, they always bring me joy. Two days later, almost at the same time. She dropped me another text.

Our conversation became a little lively, I admit, she’s a damn good texter. Like my girl, she kept me on the edge. We texted continuously for the next 3 or so days. I even began to smile each time I saw her text, even before reading the contents.

During lunch on a Wednesday, I was caught up making uploads in readiness to leave and get a breather, then boom! There she was, walking into my place of work.

Business seemed to be on a stand still as everyone looked at her. She stopped right in the middle of the room and looked left and right as if looking for me.
I looked straight into my Boss’s cubicle and noticed he was eager to welcome this stunning lady.
Well, judging from the way he was walking out of his cubicle in a hurry. It’s at that point that I got up.

Almost, if not holding hands we walked into the car park and got onto her vehicle that was parked at a distant corner from the rest.
We both slid into the back seats, as soon as we slammed the doors shut. As the kiss prolonged, I started to go dumb again. I was getting all touchy when my phone rang. That only happens in movies and I wanted to star in this movie. That awkward silence after my phone call was broken with a goodbye from her. She told me how she just wanted to drop by and see my face.

I quickly grabbed the two, put them in my pocket, said goodbye back and walked out as I started to devise lies to feed my girlfriend over the weekend.
Marilyn had just done a “Munangagwa” (coup) on her and I didn’t see myself fighting this feeling. The devil was in full swing and I was submitting.
