I love video game music! Music can amplify the atmosphere in a horror game, or pump your blood in an action game. Music can make an emotional moment hit home, or transport your mind to a fantasy world you need to revisit. This here is a thread of my favourite video game music:
This music starts at the beginning of the game as you walk through the woods, and is a moment of haunting bliss. Just a shame the rest of the game didn't hit the heights this beautiful piece alluded to.
Every time I hear the Horizon: Zero Dawn theme, it reminds me of the joy I had getting my first platinum trophy, and the journey I went on with Aloy. Incredible game with fantastic music.
Final Fantasy 10, my favourite game. I have the PS4 dynamic theme that has this piece playing because I love it that much. It fills me full of joy and sadness. The journey through Spira is a magical one.
When I played Death Stranding, the game clicked for me when this song started playing. With my destination in sight, the camera pulling out, and thinking of the journey I had just been on and the emotions I felt, will make this moment stay with me forever.
The Fallout 4 theme is so good. Just because I listened to it just now, I've gone and bought the game for the 3rd time, this time on PC.
With what Snake has gone through up until this point in MGS3, having this serene moment of contemplation is simply beautiful, and truly one of the best and most memorable moments in gaming. I feel this was a precursor to Death Stranding's use of music
I think FFX-2 was ahead of it's time, but I struggled with this game at launch. One moment will always stand out for me though, and it's this incredible song, the beautiful storytelling and the impact it had within the game
The Dragon's Dogma title music is so out of place but so awesome! It's a shame it got removed for the remastered edition
I need to play through Final Fantasy 6. I never got that far into it, but what stuck out to me, was this incredible piece of music - Terra's theme. It's one of the best pieces of music on any Final Fantasy game. Just incredible.
Lost Odyssey - more people need to play this incredible RPG. The true Final Fantasy 13, with a song that fills me full of nostalgia, makes me want to play the game immediately, and has Kaim and co's journey flash before my eyes. What an amazing song
Blue Dragon boss music. Every game needs an option to have this song as the boss music. Pumps the blood and makes the boss fights exhilarating, tense, and so fun. Love this song.
No list could be complete without this emotional driven piece from Ghost of Tsushima. Just wow. Wow wow wow.
This sends chills down my spine, and has me feeling like I am Kratos. I hope the sequel has these beautiful instruments and deep tones. Incredible.
The boss music for the first boss, The Cleric Beast, in Bloodborne, is a haunting piece that solidifies how epic the rest of this game was going to be. My nerves were shot fighting him the first time, and this music played a huge part in that.
As far as main themes go, Skyrim's is up there as one of the most epic. I would sit there and listen to this over and over. So good.
The Elder Scrolls theme continues with Oblivion, another stellar piece. This one giving off a real sense of adventure and whimsical wonder. Makes me feel like I'm part of a Fellowship. Not the only game on this list with a character named Gray Fox
One of the best games of all time with one of the best songs of all time. A moment of contemplation, relaxation, and serenity. This song has everything. What a way to cap off the incredible Metal Gear Solid.
Ah the Prelude. I just want to go on a journey within any Final Fantasy when I hear any rendition of this timeless piece. Incredible song.
Sephiroth uncovering the secrets of his and the planets past, and the experiments, is accompanied by this stunning piece that encapsulates his mental descent. This moment created one of the best video game villains of all time and still gives me goosebumps
Epic is the word I am using to round off this thread with this masterpiece from Final Fantasy 8. I don't need to say much more, just listen
Thanks for reading this thread and experiencing my favourite video game music. There's so many more songs I love, but these all had the biggest emotional impact and release the endorphins. I gain so much pleasure from listening to all these songs.
