It was a month or so ago when I received a commission offer. Being the utter newb that I am at this I took it as a legit comm.. Originally I thought I& #39;d only be doing a single full-body artwork.
Which was definitely fine until they said "I& #39;d like to order 13 full-bodies please!". I was mind blown at this part, as a beginner, I sorta agreed to it at first. I wasn& #39;t expecting a huge af order so I wasn& #39;t prepared on how to handle these kinds of stuff.
So I took the order, 13 full bodies. Originally, we agreed that I would receive the payment once all the artworks are finished. 195$, no deadline albeit they told me that their bday is on October something.
As a kind goody two shoes newb, I told them I& #39;d try to make it by that time. At this point I was working on the first one, things were going smoothly, kinda. I told a friend of mine who also does commissions about it and I was more or less lectured xDDD
My friend told me to not be shy and ask for a change in terms from a Full payment to a partial every 2 artworks were finished. This is where things seemed off. They told me that they don& #39;t really have the money and they& #39;d receive it on their Bday.
At the end of that, we couldn& #39;t reach better terms so they canceled the 13 full bodies. At this point, I already finished the first one so they said they would pay me.
They said they would.
They said they would.
Our agreement was that the commission would be paid through Paypal. I gave them my email and they said they& #39;d send it as soon as possible. Then a week passed, I was doing research and found out that money can become pending for 21 days.
I thought that was the case, so I suggested a change in the payment option. I take commissions in Amino Apps for in-game currency. We agreed to meet in-game... agreed to. They told me they were logging in already but alas an hour has passed still no sign of them.
At that time I was in the middle of online classes so I said let& #39;s reschedule the meet. I was met with no replies for another week. This time I asked whether I should give my paypal,me instead. Then they said they& #39;ve sent the payment already.
They provided a screenshot of what seemed to be a payment confirmation. Then (Had the nerve) to tell me to send the artwork for "security purposes". And being a newb, I complied.
I told them that I& #39;d dm them the following day in case the money still hasn& #39;t arrived. And yeah it didn& #39;t. Earlier today I was met with horrible news. A warning from a fellow community member in amino that the commissioner was a scammer.
I panicked, and messaged the author of the post and asked for more details. As far as they know, 2 people were scammed, 3 including me, but later on it turned out 4 artists were scammed. THey were ghosted, or the commissioner refused to meet up with them.
The author of the post asked me for info, (BEING A STUPID GOODY TWO SHOES) I refused to give any at that time stating stuff like "I want to find out their side as well". (YOU CAN PROBS TELL IM STUPID WITH THIS).
I was recently introduced to my friend& #39;s friends who also does art. I explained my situation and sent the confirmation email so that the scammer sent me. Because I lack knowledge about Paypal, I thought it was just right I sought help.
Then the horror, when I was told it was photoshopped. Its daunting me up till right now just how stupid I was to immediately send a full artwork without getting my payment. And to even further go down the stupid hole, I contacted the scammer.
I was met with the "I& #39;m busy hold on" excuse, and at this point, I& #39;m barely keeping my temper. A few moments later I tried bugging the person but to no avail still no reply.
I kept my discord open at all times just in case, then I noticed their status "Don& #39;t talk to me I& #39;m f^cking pissed". And I should& #39;ve known better, a few moments later I have been blocked.
Oh did I mention I even sent an email to this person asking what their reasons are? Yeahh sht move right there. So I went back to the author of the post, and apologized for my complete stupidity and gave as much info abt the person that I know.
You can say stuff like "But you shouldn& #39;t have thers the Digital thingy act" Yeah I know, but that puts them at a disadvantage. They can keep scamming people. Therefore, the only choice is to spread the word about who this person is.
So if anyone asks for a commission whose name is WeebLoli, giving you a character named Lukulia then please refuse right away. This person scammed 4 people in one Amino Community, and in some other ones as well.
Here& #39;s the commissioned work I did for him as a reference. If someone asks you to do a character that looks like this, then beware @_@
