Melania Trump is a fashion model married to a (self-described) billionaire. Her outfits (when they are described ) typically cost thousands of dollars. All indications are, she gives enormous thought to clothes, and what they represent.
She could have worn literally anything in the world to give the longest, most visible speech she gives as First Lady: the Republican National Convention speech for her husband's 2nd term nomination.

She could have worn this this this this this, or this, or this, or this.
They're all in her closet. Just pull them out, throw them on, good to go!

She could have worn this, or this or this or this.
..or this or this or this or this...
Any of them - just toss them on and go!

Or this or this or this or this! She's got them all! Any of them would do.
or this or this or this or this! Every single one of them - just ready to put on. They're all really great looks - and you can also see they are carefully chosen to fit the particular context.

She could have just tossed any one of them on for that speech!
Or this or this or this or this!

Plenty to choose from! Or she could walk into any store in the world -- or, more likely, have them come to her -- and choose any of literally tens of thousands of possible dresses, suits, jackets, blouses. The possibilities were innumerable!
Women - when relegated by Patriarchy to a limited role as decoration - have historically given enormous thought, and fortune, to fashion choices. Bc it is one choice they entirely control.

Fashion is history, politics, society - well, everything, really.

Melania knows this.
And this is what she chose to wear, to give the speech for the convention nominating her husband for a second term as President.

What do you think she knows, that you do not?
Here are long body shots and closeups.

They unmistakably refer to militarism, specifically to a WWII look, and the lapel - she cares about details - does not echo any US women's uniforms, either (that I can find).
At the 2016 Presidential debate following her husband's famous "Grab'em by the pussy" scandal, she showed up, famously, wearing what is called a "pussy bow blouse".

She hasn't worn one since, that I have seen.

These are conscious choices. https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2016/10/melania-trump-pussy-bow-blouse-debate
The pith helmet in Kenya!

Not, to let it go unmentioned: she wore red-bottom shoes, by Louboutin, what Cardi B refers to as "bloody shoes" in Bodak Yellow, and not in the English way.

It's not so unusual for her - she wears Louboutins often - though it may be telling. The combination is, well...

Well.
