1/ A Bitcoin rennisance is upon us. I'm excited!
👇

This episode of @WhatBitcoinDid with . @lopp, . @Excellion and . @alansilbert is a phenomenal listen. An hour and half of Bitcoiners experiencing excruciating cognitive dissonance.

It's a good start towards much needed change.
2/ The scar tissue of Ethereum's success happening at the same time as the block-size wars, was that many Bitcoiners defensively began to reject ANY change, or willingness to accept that there could be ANY value in other systems.
3/ The ICO scam boom fuelled this further, and everything that wasn't Bitcoin began to be called a scam or a shitcoin.
4/ Along the way what was lost were two important things.

First, the phenomenal sense of optimism and adventure of Bitcoins early days was replaced by ossification and ideological purity tests.
5/ Second, the understanding that Bitcoin has nothing to fear from innovations on other chains. "Any innovation that is valuable on another chain can and will be adopted by Bitcoin". This used to common sense wisdom among Bitcoiners.
6/ I am optimistic that we are at a turning point. The cognitive dissonance is the marker that we are far enough past the trauma of the Blocksize war to recapture the confidence to innovate. And not only to innovate but to ingest the innovations of others.
7/ The vehicle for doing this will not be Bitcoin mainchain, but on Bitcoin Layer 2. This will include DLC and lightening but mostly sidechains like @RSK and Liquid.
8/ There are very cool projects already being build on sidechains, like @moneyonchainok and @SovrynBTC that all Bitcoiners should be aware of.

The Renaissance is started. "Maximalism", a term invented by Vitalik is dying.
