The latest story about Trump& #39;s comments regarding fallen soldiers demonstrate a shocking selfishness, disregard for life and a total lack of empathy or honor, which is—and I really want everybody to understand this—exactly what Trump voters like about him.

This won& #39;t hurt him.

Anybody still voting for Trump has to be understood as the sort of person who likes what Trump is: a person so opposed to the idea of a shared social life that any sacrifice in service of a shared social life strikes him as contemptible.

They know what he is. They just like it.

The last 100 stories preceding this one have already proved that Trump is a rotted soul—a man who has cultivated his bad qualities so relentlessly he has no good ones left. And beyond the stories is the daily proof of the man himself.

There& #39;s nobody left to convince about Trump.

These stories are still important! It& #39;s just that we don& #39;t tell them for the sake of his supporters—who have to be seen as so morally empty. they& #39;d experience the manifest daily reality of his toxicity, and embrace him *because* of it.

We tell them for ourselves—and for history.

Trump supporters are people who have become well-practiced at finding reasons to not give a shit about any shocking or cruel or abusive truth—who construct alternative realities to avoid them.
