The 200 club.
To hit 200 points in an #FPL season is a pretty exclusive club. Only the elite of the elite, often called 'season keepers' reach this target over the course of the season. The question posed in the thread below is can Son Heung-Min join the 200 club this season?

History of the 200 club
Since Son has joined the league, only 11 midfielders have hit this elusive target and an average of 3.6 a season.
Last season, 5 hit this target - all with reputations as solid assets and captain picks. KDB, Sterling, Martial, Mane and Sterling

The reclassified Martial was a new contender, another nearly man who hit 200 points at a 7.5m valuation. Like Son he had previously never hit FPL heights, his previous top score having been 141 points. The rest had hit this target previously as per the history below.
18/19 - Salah, Hazard, Sterling and Mane hit 200 points
17/18 - Salah, Sterling and KDB
16/17 - Sanchez, Alli, Hazard and Eriksen (yes 2 Spurs players!)
15/16 - Mahrez and Ozil reached 200 (wow we're really going back now!)

Why am I looking at Son?
Son has now been in the Premier League for 5 seasons. Every season he has felt like the nearly man, never quite hitting the lofty heights of 200 points - with his peak score of 178 in 17/18. However, there were mitigating factors each season as below:

When watching the 'All or Nothing' documentary, many managers instantly were attracted to Dele Alli and some of his performances post Mourinho taking on the new role.
However, my attentions were drawn elsewhere, primarily by the amazing goal Son scored against Burnley

This goal was as elite as they come and evidence if needed before that this is one of the best players in the Premier League. However, from an #FPL stand point he never has quite broken through to the mainstream in terms of being a template 'must own' pick, despite the potential
200 points is firmly within his potential. However, as illustrated by the history of Son in #FPL every season, which I am going to go in detail below, it hasn't quite happened with various mitigating factors being the cause.
15/16
This was Son's first season in the Premier League and he finished with just 70 points. Signing for Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen for 22 million, he was expected to play a key role due to versatility of playing up front or on the wings.

That first season though he only scored 4 goals, and played 1107 minutes. Competing for starts with the likes of Nacer Chadli, he only started 10 games , though he did show some early flashes of brilliances
16/17
This is when Son really started to shine with 14 goals and 9 assists this campaign finishing with 174 points. A season where we saw 2 spurs players break 200 points, Son could have easily hit that target had it not been for minutes played again.

Only playing 2063 minutes, he again was more a rotation option starting only 23 PL games with the likes of Eriksen and Alli who hit the 200 club, being more instrumental to Spurs finishing 2nd.
Poch often preferred to play a midfield three with Dier, Wanyama and Dembele and Son's role in the team often was limited to just an impact bench player as he continued his development at the club
If Son had been a sure starter every game he would have definitely hit 200 points

This was Son's best ever campaign despite scoring 2 less goals and 1 less assist than the previous year.
He was more involved in Poch's plans starting 27 games and only 10 bench appearances. However, he still hadn't reached guaranteed starter status for the club

This was the year with the likes of Eriksen/Alli declining in form that Son finally looked like a nailed on and excellent #FPL option
It was a long summer for him though, with the World Cup and he missed the start of the season due to competing in the Asian Games

There were certainly glimpses of that top tier level that we know he possesses such as from GW13-22 where he scored 8 goals and 6 assists in 9 games - a period where he truly proved his worth as one of the emerging leading men at the club.
However, things didn't fully click for him this year and it ended on a bad note with a sending off for pushing Lerma in GW37 much to my chagrin at the time! He finished on just 159 points, having played 250 less minutes, partly due to his early extra curricular activities
19/20
So we get to last season and it felt another stop start season for Son, blighted by injuries and suspensions.
Son found himself getting sent off twice this year, and started the season serving a ban for the sending off the previous year.

Due to injury as well it meant he missed 8 whole games in total. Still he managed 11 goals and 13 assists, scoring 169 FPL points. If he had played those 8 games, and continued his rate of return he would have finished with 214 points. Not got sent off, it would have been 220.
Present day:
It's clear to everyone that bar perhaps Kane, Son is the most important player for Spurs. He won't be dropped.
If he can avoid injuries/suspensions, then 200 points is well within his reach. However, he will need to be fit for a whole campaign to hit this target.

As a fan of the player and the club I certainly back a fit Son, to reach this kind of #FPL target. The history proves that he could have achieved this in any one of the last four seasons, if a few extenuating circumstances had gone his way.
As an #FPL option, he has dropped 0.5m perhaps slightly unfairly this campaign. At 9m, with his points potential and Spurs opening fixtures in my view he represents a great pick for the start of the season.
