consider this: only son of the ceo of a massive multidollar tech corporation oikawa and his ex-bodyguard iwaizumi. as far as oikawa is concerned, iwaizumi was dead to him; the bodyguard betrayed him after all, and oikawa could care less about where he is.

but the truth is that iwaizumi didnt betray him. oikawa's father gave him an ultimatum the moment he realized that iwaizumi and oikawa had something more than a strictly professional relationship: leave and cut all contact with oikawa or his identity will be compromised.

and in iwaizumi's line of work, confidentiality about his identity is of utmost importance. he was no saint, and the clients he served were no saints either—just like oikawa's father. a compromised identity is essentially death, and so, with a heavy heart, he left.

things start to take a turn though when oikawa gets kidnapped by one of his father's many enemies. being at the top of the food chain meant you had to step on so many lives, and that's exactly what his father he did. too bad it was him who paid the price.

and of course, the moment iwaizumi hears about this, he forgets about whatever ultimatum was given to him. he no longer cared about the consequences of trying to come close to oikawa; who cares about his life if oikawa was dead?

[cue lots of action-packed scenes which i can't write! iwaizumi manages to save oikawa through the help of his connections, but of course their reunion was not a great one.]

"you /left/ me. and now you expect me to run back into your arms?"

"i never wanted to leave you, tooru."

"you really expect me to believe that? i never heard anything from you for years, iwaizumi. not even an obscure e-mail or a fucking hello. not even an explanation!"

"YOUR FATHER FORCED ME TO DO IT! I HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN YOU AND MY ENTIRE LIFE!"

"then why come back? i would not be selfish and ask you to choose my life over yours, so tell me: why come back?"

"because i love you! surely you must have known that?"

they make out after that with burning cars in the background and an explosion from two streets away because action movies always gotta have that kinda shebang. maybe they also get to have rough intense reunion sex later on, but they first pay oikawa's father a visit.
