but get this: oikawa isnt actually a villain—his methods are just unconventional and by unconventional he murders anyone who crosses the minority. iwaizumi doesnt believe that anyone deserves to die which is where they differ (and why iwaizumi is heralded as the hero).

so when iwaizumi sees him with blood covering most of his face, ribs presumably broken, and eyes glazed over when he mutters "i had nowhere else to go" before he loses consciousness, iwaizumi immediately carries him in his arms.

as much as it pains him, he cant bring oikawa to the hospital—he has multiple murder cases against him after all (but then, iwaizumi is quite knowledgeable when it comes to treating really bad injuries without professional care, so he makes use of that experience).

iwaizumi tries his best to bandage oikawa's wounds, but it was almost hopeless. the bruises that paint his enemy's body were horrifying. broken, iwaizumi just cradles him in the dead of the night where no one could judge them.

iwaizumi doesn't really hate oikawa. in fact, he hates the fact that they are painted as archenemies when they both fight for the same side, but there's nothing he can really do.

he sits by oikawa's side until sunrise with his hand softly caressing his face, and when the latter wakes up, eyes wide in alarm, iwaizumi only smiles softly at him.
