I’m seeing more nsfw feral artists being called out as zoophiles on my timeline. I have genuine concern for this community if we’re going to treat feral furs this way, and I want my mutuals who have been affected by the zoosadist leaks like I have to hear me out on my suggestion.
There’s a HUGE lack of a conversation here about the different ways the media can be consumed / the way people identify with feral bodies. This DOES NOT immediately mean they are zoophiles for drawing their feral sparkledogs getting it on.
But furthermore, I think the arguing over what is or isn’t zoophilic in artwork is largely detracting from the ULTIMATE goal we all want: Which is we want zoos to stop thinking its okay to actually sexually abuse animals!! I have been strongly advocating against all feral art-
lately because of how deeply affected I was by the idea that nsfw feral artwork was grooming people into sexually exploiting their animals. I equated that any nsfw feral art = zoophilia. This is NOT a fair assumption by any means.
I drew nsfw feral art in the past, like pokemon sonas and dragons (I personally never drew any animal vulva bcuz it makes me uncomf but thats offtopic), without any second thought. Because I think we all subconsciously agreed: No one wants to ACTUALLY fuck their dog.
It felt like an unspoken, understood agreement. Now that zoos have become more prevalent and slipping into the furry identity, there’s been contention about the artwork causing zoophilia. But people who want to fuck their dogs are typically already predisposed to those ideas.
The truth is zoophiles were just able to come in and steal the nsfw feral art label as a way of connecting with a larger fandom that they would benefit being apart of. We protected them with our “Its just art” stance. Because we understood that ALSO meant no sex w ACTUAL dogs.
Now that they’ve coopted a section of our fandom, I think it’s important we can focus on the real goal we ALL want: That everyone knows that zoophilia is WRONG. Taking advantage of an animal for any sexual exploitation is ABUSE.
My suggestion is: All nsfw feral art, please put an anti disclaimer under the art saying something like “My artwork does not support, promote, or condone zoophilia.” That would be a very simple yet effective way for us to know that the artist is not a zoophile, no questions asked
I think we can also do more to be more pro active in the community such as blocking zoophiles in the community, promoting anti zoo messages, a little nice “NO ZOOS” in the bio, maybe? Whatever you need to do to let others know you want zoos gone just as much as the rest of us.
I hope this is a meeting ground that we can come to agree on. I think the most important issue is the actual abuse of animals, and not the perceived imaginary animal abuse in art. We’re arguing over consenting art, meanwhile zoos are discussing their dogs’ preferred foreplay
I’m sorry to people who I’ve been flooding their timeline with this lately, I know its an uncomfortable conversation, because we are deeply upset with the idea of our furry friends being sexually exploited and violated like that, esp by members in our own community.
If you agree with this, please rt and share. I know there’s good intentions with the debating over what’s essentially crossing the line, and I do agree there are lines to be drawn, but I think they’re a lot further down then where its at rn. We r making things worse w infighting.
Adding this here bcuz its important: https://twitter.com/spunkymutt_/status/1302246187509088257
Trying to keep all my opinions on this together. A few people have pointed out that the material is a bit unsafe, only because we cant control WHO eventually gets the art/and how they use/share it. Adding the idea here to make an AD thats locked with the nsfw art out of caution? https://twitter.com/spunkymutt_/status/1302383348728369153
