Today is exactly one year since I went to New York so maybe a thread of photos and memories because it'll be on my mind all day/next week.
These are probably gonna be randomly structured and such but first of all: random architecture appreciation.

Most of these buildings are of no real importance, but I was just captivated by the look of the city. That's a major thing I'm hurting to have back in my life.
Our flight was at 4/5am UK time and it was something like 2pm when we got there so our body clocks were badly damaged. My wife especially did not cope well. The first day was navigating out of JFK, missing our subway stop, having a short walk and then going to bed at like 7pm.
We stayed in the Upper West Side which I was super happy with. We were out of the way of busiest areas but two blocks from Central Park and a short walk from a diner, so morning one Tina fulfilled her desires to go to a classic American diner and had blueberry pancakes.
First full day and we immediately did WHAT WE DO which is fit as much as possible into a day. Tourist stuff began; Public Library, Grand Central, Rockefeller etc. The surrealness was real. Here's some more architecture.
Many of the things on day one I hadn't intended to do right away but it was raining and we were there so we jumped into the Nintendo Store.

Choosing four photos for this tweet was hard. Also, we would wind up kinda *underspending* so in retrospect could've grabbed a souvenir.
Never assume because your phone provider entitles you to international roaming that it doesn't have to be manually switched on. Found that out the hard way, and unable to do it from the USA so I navigated us (with minimal issue!) with a city guide map and subway WiFi.
Despite this we managed to meet up with @jasprung, get some friggin' Korean BBQ and go to Barcade where Sprung looked at me funny for ordering whiskey and then I understand why when they poured like half of pint into my glass.

I was not complaining.
Order of events are gonna get whatever from here because I dunno exactly but we didn't delay too much to go The High Line, a disused overhead Trainline that runs some of the downtown area.
We also did a LOT of museum stuff over the week. Like, HOURS and hours. I won't go crazy but here's to just show the variation.

Honestly, the Natural History Museum is so unbelievably huge and filled with stuff that there's no point in trying to do it all at once.
They don't call it "the city that never sleeps" for no reason. Times Square is illuminous.
We spent almost an entire day in Central Park over the weekend and didn't even see all of it. It was strangely a huge anchor of our holiday. Staying where we were it meant we could very easily jump in and out of it.
We took the subway all over Manhattan, and over to Brooklyn too mostly to have dinner and then walk back to the island over Brooklyn Bridge after sunset. One of those "am I dreaming" kind of moments.
Speaking of dinner, here's some food highlights. Fried chicken and mash with dat NY cheesecake. Theres very few smokehouses in Manhattan but we just had to have brisket. Also, some Mexican before we rushed off to MSG (coming up).
Back to views! We purchased travel passes after working out that they would save us money if we did nonstop things (which is very us), so very early morning after Brooklyn we went to the top of Rockefeller to take it all in.
There were a couple of things we hadn't even thought about date-wise. By pure chance, WWE was rolling through the city when we were there so we stood outside Madison Square Garden five minutes before the show started and got hugely reduced tickets through Ticket Wizard @jasprung.
