I was at a party not too long ago, in the USA. And a fella that looks Irish but is apparently of Italian descent said, "Oh! you're British!" I said, "Yes, English to be exact". He said, "yes, and you're like the most British looking person". Can someone explain what that means?
I know we look different ways, but I can gather what that means. There is a stereotype but in reality we are quite varied. Some of us look very med--a minority but still! The way he said it I could not tell if it was a compliment or a slight--and usually I can suss these nuances.
In my field, nuances of human interaction are important. But I admit, he threw me for a loop.
