I'm going to empty the can on this QB situation.

1. Mitch Trubisky was basically like a boxing champion in this scenario. All he had to do was earn a draw and he'd retain the belt.

That is basically what he did.

#Bears
2. Nick Foles had to come into this with no minicamps, OTAs, or preseason.

He also had to try to make a good showing in practice against a top 5 defense.

Having high expectations of him is fine but that feels like asking a bit much.

#Bears
3. The good news? Trubisky has a considerably better arsenal than last season.

A-Rob and Miller should form a strong tandem with Ginn and Mooney providing speed.

Then there's the TEs. Graham and Kmet will threaten the middle so much more than Burton and Shaheen did.

#Bears
4. It's hard to trust Trubisky has truly figured out his primary issues.

Better footwork might solve a lot of those overthrow issues.

Then again it's easy to have sharp footwork when you know you're not getting hit in practice.

#Bears
5. Did the defensive coaches actually try to test him in camp? Were they disguising coverages and bringing delayed blitzes?

If so and he still improved then that's a welcome sign.

Trubisky will never ascend unless his eyes speed up.

6. One thing worth noting?

This is his 3rd year in Nagy's offense. Remember the coach said this is typically when a QB truly masters a system.

By now Trubisky should feel comfortable with the verbiage and know the playbook better than his favorite novel.

7. It's hard to believe this is the first time a #Bears QB has been in the same system for at least three years since Kyle Orton in 2007.

Process that.

Trubisky could end up being proof that continuity really does matter in quarterback development.
8. The opening schedule is absent of any excuses.

Trubisky will face four-straight teams that had a losing record in 2019.

Three of which had league-low pass defenses.

No primetime games.

Literally no hostile crowds on the road.

He couldn't ask for a better setup.

#Bears
9. Ryan Pace has been a respectable captain of this #Bears ship since he took over.

And like any captain, he seems prepared to go down with that ship.

He invested in Mitch. He believes in Mitch. This is the hill he's choosing to die on.

Let the chips fall where they may.
10. Trubisky has to know his leash is short.

If he has another Packers, Saints, or Chiefs-type game from last year in the first couple of weeks?

It's a virtual guarantee Nagy will go to Foles.

Fast starts have never been his thing.

That needs to change. #Bears
