Peeled off to errand; some redundant reflections:

Younger ppl in Chicago rock and are very smart.

The youthfulness of police abolitionists isn’t an accident. After whiteness, the second best predictor of pro-cop politics, or even just critical neutrality, is owning property.
A social base for a mvmt trying to abolish a uni’s police force is inevitably going to have many students. Admin/cop attempts to write off students as privileged wokelords (regardless of actual bios of students) misses the fact that they have, generically, zero property interest
Admin/cops want to pose that lack of property interest as the inorganicness of student abolitionists’ politics, but it is actually one immediate link between PWI student abolitionists and the young hometown people they’re doing shit with (when those two groups aren’t the same)
All of this is to say that walking with a crowd of local young ppl, college students, grad students was a helpful reminder that the “outside” of the anticop “outside agitator” is first and foremost a description of ppl outside of the property relation. And...
admin/cops attempts to paint anticop shit on campus as student wokelordery that is indifferent to the real south side community is a cynical conflation of two very different but here, for some, in solidarity forms of unpropertiedness as bourgie shit
