Never a bad time to remind the kiddies these days about how fantastic Pearl Jam was during the 1990's, almost exactly at the moment you probably stopped paying attention to them if you were living through it all:
I'm 100% serious about this (and go on random jags about it on Twitter every year or so): Pearl Jam from 1994-2002 is their best material, forget the early grunge stuff.
It's almost laughable how much good stuff PJ threw away on their albums during the mid-to-late-1990s. This feels like automatic writing, and how can you dislike it? Their power level was extremely high.
How great an album is YIELD? So great that its two big singles ("Wishlist" and "Given To Fly"), while fine, aren't even remotely close to being the best song on the album. The best song? You never heard it unless you're a fan:
"Faithful" is probably the second best song of Pearl Jam's entire career, just as a full performance, recording, composition. But it's not #1. This...this is number one:
For reasons that make no sense to me, I have 51,000 followers on Twitter. Let's assume that a full 60% of those are North Macedonian bot-farm followers (given the $$ I've paid those South Slav jagoffs, it oughta be). I still hope I can convince the other 40% to hear "In My Tree."
