spook is an anti-black slur
for those wondering the verb of spook meaning to scare someone came first, then the racial slur was based on it.

even with its original meaning a lot of black people (including me) are very uncomfortable with it
im one of those people. for clarification saying spooky is fine, its when you say spook on its own as a noun and replace it in words (spooktacular or spooktober) that it becomes really uncomfortable for me personally.

but keep in mind all black ppl aren't the same
and can have different reactions to different things, this is just for me bc this my post. ill be muting the word for now for myself but just in case some people don't know i try to make this thread yearly to educate people
it's def not as widely used as before, but black people still have the right to feel uncomfortable with its use so please if you're gonna try to argue with me abt it i'd prefer if you'd just block me. sorry for being so blunt abt it im just tired of the same shit each year
