You are not more or less Asian or Australian than another person due to your race, ethnicity, place of birth, migration story, class, gender, & other identity markers. We are human & complex & identity is multilayered. You should be free to be uniquely you, whoever you are.

To clarify I mean this specifically for Asian-Australians—it’s hard enough to navigate diasporic Asian identity without having to worry about whether you are ‘authentically’ Asian. You are Asian & Australian & everything in between is valid. There is no mythic homeland.
