I am SO tired of people using mental health side effects or disorders as horror tropes. I& #39;m so sick of it.
Like... yeah, delusions are scary. They& #39;re terrifying. But can we stop using them to twist a story, that the TRUE horrors, the scariest thing of a terrifying movie, is that the main character is ~~IN A MENTAL INSTITUTION~~ and ~~IT WAS ALL A HALLUCINATION~~
because REAL PEOPLE deal with that sh*t. and they live with it. you probably know someone who has delusions or hallucinations, and you don& #39;t even realize.
DID/OSDD systems don& #39;t ACTUALLY have a murderer just lying in wait within themselves. it& #39;s just not a real thing. Systems are created out of childhood trauma to protect the body. Alters are no more potential serial killers than you.
auditory hallucinations aren& #39;t going to make someone snap and start murdering people left and right. Schizophrenic people aren& #39;t anyone to be afraid of.
there& #39;s SO much more I could talk about on this thread, but there& #39;s not enough time or energy in the world to cover it all. feel free to take this on in the replies.

but i would like to stress: You probably know people with conditions like these and more, and you don& #39;t even know
Pushing these horror tropes and stereotypes does nothing but make them want to hide themselves further. You& #39;re not in danger. You& #39;re hurting them.

Stop.
