People are going to disagree with me, but I honestly don’t think Shannon’s tweet was bad. She worked on this character for 6 years. This is her project. Yes, part of the face was done by Cascina, but 99% of the work is all down to Shannon. She brought Dina to life.
Cascina has said countless times in her videos that Shannon IS Dina. That’s all she can do. She can’t force people not to say stuff, that’s their responsibility... I understand why Shannon would be upset. When you’ve been working so hard on something, you are so protective of it.
It can be so daunting not to get credit for something that is yours - especially something that has been yours for 6 years. That’s a hell of a long time, and from watching interviews you can tell how much Dina means to Shannon, and how much hard work and effort she put into it.
And based off of her tweets today, you can tell the words of others have effected her a lot. I can’t begin to imagine how much pressure she is under being the face of such a massive role in the gaming industry. You have to cut her some slack.
What she tweeted was honest and needed to be said, because some people on here are extremely insensitive at times. It’s also very easy to read into things, because words on a screen can be misinterpreted differently to spoken word. Some will read it badly, some will not.
I personally don’t see Shannon’s tweet as being malicious. I saw it as her being passionate about her character and her work, which is exactly what you want from an actor - someone who cares. One word she used can be interpreted badly, but I don’t think it was intended that way.
Either way, at the end of the day: Cascina is the face model, yes, but Shannon is also part of the face, AND everything else involving the creation of Dina. Those are the facts. I thank both of them for bringing such a wonderful character to life whom I love so much.
