This week I am showing what today's MLB would look like if it remained to be an all-white league. #phstmu 1/9
I have attached a page that I wrote each team's lineup on and left out POC. You can see that all teams would be missing players and ultimately would be fielding a worse team because of it. 2/9
I also want to highlight that through history Black, Latino, Indigenous and Asian players have impacted the history of MLB. Can you imagine if Barry Bonds hadn't crushed a billion homers? or if Willie Mays hadn't stolen runs from people in the outfield on a nightly basis? 3/9
In today's MLB several notable players would not be in the league such as Tatis JR, Mookie, Guerrero Jr among several others. Would this be a league people would still be interested in? Think about what those players bring to the game every night 4/9
Now think about what the players of the Negro league would have brought to the game, think about the advancements that could have taken place and the amazing stories we would hear of today. Taken away from discrimination, prejudice and racism. 5/ 9
Take this thought outside of baseball and put it into the context of the working world. Imagine the opportunities that were kept from POC then and still continuing into today. 6/9
If this thought doesn't make you upset you need to take a step back and realize that you are privileged to have opportunities provided to you and that race isn't a concern for you but you need to realize that it is for so many people in the world. 7/9
Although there are not set rules in place as there were in the MLB at the time underlying prejudice still exists today. We need to strive to make this a thing of the past if we wish to grow as humans. 8/9
