If you think sweatshops only make the clothes that go into Penneys, I& #39;ve news for you that you won& #39;t like
And if you think paying more for your clothes means that money will go to the workers in the factories making your clothes, I& #39;ve news for you there you won& #39;t like either.
Penneys clothing being disposable / shortlived is a hangover from the 80& #39;s and 90& #39;s I think, their clothes are definitely as good as anywhere else, they& #39;re cheaper because they buy in massive bulk quantities.
I don& #39;t think there& #39;s any other retailer that buy in the sheer bulk quantites that Penneys / Primark do, or can. But if you think their clothes are made in the Penneys Factory and your M&S or boutique clothing item isn& #39;t made nearby or even in the same place - welp
Here& #39;s an example, a shirt I bought in 2017 from a boutique store, that I paid 28 euro for. Designer vintage and so on.
here it is on Aliexpress! So I paid almost 5 times as much, do you think that extra money went to the person who sewed it together?

Just because one thing costs more does not mean it was ethically made or sourced, it means someone somewhere made more money off you and off the person who made it, and a levy on ‘cheap’ clothes won’t fix that.

THE POINT IS that a few people are missing THE POINT IS a levy on cheap clothes to stop us buying them / reduce demand for them ONLY PUNISHES THE PEOPLE WHO RELY ON THEM, the factory workers AND the end consumer. Its the people who PROFIT FROM IT who are the issue!
