I am a teacher. I wish the public knew the truth about what is happening. I wish they knew about the teacher in Peel who tested positive after having unknowingly been exposed while in the school setting up their classroom. I wish the public knew the truth. 2/16

I wish they knew that 2 schools and a Board office in Peel were “silently” shut down due to exposure. I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that the Board I work for, spread the government funding equally, not equitably ... 3/16

so that even though my school has 80% of students returning, we lost the same amount of spec ed and staffing as a school further south who only has 55% of their students returning. So the school with more kids, higher needs, in a geographical area that has little to no ... 4/16

access to psych/community services will have less inschool support. Even though my school falls at the top of the underserved & underprivileged list of schools, we will get the same services as schools in wealthy and affluent areas with community services easily accessible. 5/16

I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that when my school lost a teacher to Virtual Schooling due to her own health needs, our Board didn’t replace her. They simply eliminated her spec ed role and made her job another homeroom. But without hiring another teacher.6/16

I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that the intent of that new homeroom was to lower class sizes. The hope was that a new homeroom combined with 20% of our students not returning should mean our class sizes would be smaller which = safer. 7/16

I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that our class sizes are NOT safe and in most cases NOT that much smaller. In fact, our classes are hovering around the size they SHOULD be in regular times. 8/16

I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that our school has had a constant trickle of new enrolments this week which also increases our class sizes. 9/16

I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that Administrators and upper management are working around the clock because of the situation the government has put them in and the lack of consistency. 10/16

I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that I don’t know a single educator who thinks it is safe for schools to reopen. I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that there really is no such thing as cohorting the students because of bussing. 11/16

My school is 100% bussed which means the students are exposed to many others who are not in the same cohort for recesses. I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that our school has FEWER teachers in a PANDEMIC than we did BEFORE the pandemic. 12/16

I wish they knew that the # of teachers students see per week has INCREASED not DECREASED. That is the only way preps could be covered. I wish the public knew the truth. 13/16

I wish they knew that masks do not have to be worn in the gym during gym class. Even though exercise naturally increases “huffing and puffing” and sweating. Yet, students are not allowed to sing in music class.

I wish they knew that teachers everywhere are grateful for anyone who has contacted their Mpp, written or phoned Lecce or Ford’s office. We know you have our backs. We also know a lot of you have no choice but to send your kids to school because of your jobs. 15/16

I wish the public knew the truth. I wish they knew that we will do everything in our power to keep your wee ones safe even though we feel like it is an impossible situation.
