Ok, so since we’re having the “gamer chairs” discourse, I thought now would be a good time to talk about my very good chair.
Full disclosure: this is a Herman Miller Aeron. I never paid for this chair. No one I know paid for this chair. It came into my life in a series of weird and convoluted ways, but it is 100% worth it. It is not a Gamer Chair.
in 2000, during the Dot Com boom my father worked as the CTO for a tech company that went under. In lieu of his salary, we took physical parts of the company home with us. One of those things was this chair.
For years, this chair served as my fathers primary office chair until one fateful day when A CEILING FELL ON IT and our entire house flooded. The chair, and actually the entire first floor of our house, were deemed a lost cause by insurance.
the chair was covered in a thick coat of wet insulation and drywall.

AND YET.

my mother hosed it down and cleaned it off and gave it to me. I took it with me to college.
I have taken this chair with me to every place I've lived, up stairs and everything (this sucker is heavy) and it is great. It is 20 years old. It works as well as it did the day my dad was a CTO in a terrible startup tech company that did not survive the dot com boom.
No joke, the only issue with this chair, 20 years in, is that occasionally one of the armrests slowly slides down after a week or two of use and I have to reset it. That's it. This sucker might be with me for life.
There's no purpose to this thread I just really like my dumb office chair. I have scoliosis and consistent chronic pain, and choosing a bad chair is not an option for me, so this is one thing I'm glad to have.

(I recommend hunting Craiglist for refurb/used one! They hold value)
