My favorite media portrayal was of the Christchurch shooter, who the media portrayed as some unknowable ironist, but if you read his manifesto, his aims were very clear: Kill Muslims

But more to the point, this idiot is trying to assume a position of dominance over women of color, to show them that they still need to remember their place (or white people like her will start shooting).

This is an ancient "meme" that dates back to Reconstruction and keeping former slaves in their place, with the threat of violence of course.
