i’m the manager of digital marketing @ universal pictures. i’ve worked on movies like jurassic world: fallen kingdom, hobbs & shaw, the grinch, us, and so much more.

here’s how i got my job👇 [thread]
/ i went to school at @ucla and interned A LOT. i worked for @beastmodesoccer, @redbull, @lafc, and various marketing and pr agencies.
/ my senior year of college i was working for @lafc and so badly wanted a full time gig. i had played soccer all my life until a career ending injury and it felt like the stars were aligning. my dream job!
/ unfortunately, they were on a hiring freeze 💔 but i did some awesome work there, made great connections, and one of my mentors there referred me to a job at @focusfeatures
/ lesson one: it’s true, when one door closes another one opens. and you’re not a failure because you didn’t get your dream role. sometimes you succeed in all that you did chasing the dream.
/ so i interview at @focusfeatures for a role in creative advertising and make it to the final round. it’s between me and another candidate who has intern experience within the company. she gets the gig.
/ BUT i really hit it off with my could-have-been boss. so we keep in touch. i email her weeks later checking in because i saw one of her trailers. she replies telling me there’s a position opening up in digital marketing and she’s referred me.
/ lesson two: keep in touch with people you’ve made a connection with, even if you didn’t get the job. connections are valuable.
/ so i interview for the role in digital marketing and the role sounds PERFECT for me. meant to be. and in this case, it really was. i got the job! 🎉
/ working at @focusfeatures was fantastic. it’s a small studio so you get to take on a lot of work. i had the best boss ever and my colleagues taught me a ton. it was the best first job a kid could ask for!
/ buuuuut i was always a bit jealous of the @universalpics team upstairs. i wanted to work on some of the franchises they had, and i especially wanted to work on a movie they had coming up, the grinch!
/ the grinch (with jim carrey) is my FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME. you don’t often get the chance to work on a remake of your favorite movie of all time.
/ a position opens up at @universal pics and i go for it. i talk about how much i love the grinch in my interview and get a 🥴 look...i still somehow manage to get the job after a series of interviews. and i get to work on the grinch!!
/ and now it’s been almost three years and i was promoted to manager earlier this year 🎉 it’s the best, i get to work on so many different genres and do so many creative things. here are some career highlights:
/ and a first of its kind tweet-for-remind program that we launched with jordan peele for @candymanmovie:

/ lesson three: chase your dreams!
