THE SCARY CHILDREN OF LOKI
Norse Mythology
Odin, the ruler of Asgard, once had a dream/premonition where he saw a major battle between the Asgardians and the forces of darkness. In his dream, he saw that Loki's children would play a major part in that battle. The jaw of a massive wolf was the last thing he saw.
Worried about his dream, Odin gathered the gods of Asgard and forced Loki to tell them the whereabouts of his children. Loki revealed they were staying with their mother Angrboda in Jotunheim, Loki's birthplace.
The gods of Asgard journeyed to Jotunheim and successfully captured the children of Loki. When this happened, Loki's offspring were still very young. One was a wolf cub, another was a snake, and the last was a girl so beautiful, but when she turned, the gods realized......
half of the girl's body was like that of a rotting corpse. The girl was daunting.
As the gods journeyed home with Loki's offspring, Odin realized that the snake had now doubled in size. What was once a small snake was now a python. The snake would not stop growing in size and Odin made the decision to throw the snake into the great sea that surrounded Midgard
Being thrown into the Midgard sea did not stop the serpent from growing. It grew so much to the point where its tail already endured the whole world. The name given to this offspring was Jormungandr and he would be the downfall of Midgard.
When the gods arrived at Asgard, everyone seemed to be afraid of Hel due to her appearance. Odin also noticed that Hel preferred the company of the dead over that of the living. Due to this, Odin made her the ruler of the dead. She reigned over the souls of those who had an.....
unworthy death and failed to reach Valhalla.
On the other hand, the wolf cub was raised amongst the gods of Asgard and quickly learnt their languages. His name was Fenrir.
One of the gods, Tyr, established a bond with the wolf and the two quickly became friends.
Like his brother Jormungandr, the wolf kept on growing and was soon bigger than a bull. In just a short period of time, he was bigger than any animal who walked the earth.
Fenrir took after his father Loki in the worst of ways. He inherited Loki's evilness and cruelty. He grew so much in size that the gods of Asgard saw him as a threat to their kingdom. After discussing, the gods decided something had to be done as such a large creature...
could not be left to wander freely in Asgard. The gods began plotting on how to curb said threat and bind Fenrir.
