You may have heard of crypto currencies before such as #Bitcoin https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt=""> #Ethereum #XRP

But what is it that makes them so special?

It is just a fad? A scam? Something to overlook?

๐—ก๐—ผ, let me explain...

Blockchain / Distributed Ledger Technology is a revolutionary way to send value.

Each ledger (or block) contains an amount of transactions.

Once the block is filled it is then linked to the next block, creating a & #39;chain& #39;.

Why does this matter?
Well...

This process creates an indisputable record of transactions which means we can see exactly who owns what at any given time.

This transparency is a game changer but that is not the only benefit.

Blockchain technology is also decentralized.

Meaning there is no central authority which can intervene with your transaction.

In comparison, if you were to send money today, it will have to be processed by a 3rd party intermediary, for example:

Blockchains are decentralized in the sense it is truly peer to peer.

The network itself is often run by a number of & #39;nodes& #39;.

Computers running software which processes these transaction all across the world.

But where do Crypto Currencies come into all of this?
Crypto Currencies are the unit which is transferred on their particular Blockchain.

With each having different advantages / disadvantages.

For example, someone sending a Bitcoin will interact with the #Bitcoin https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt=""> Blockchain, #Ethereum interacting with the Ethereum Network.
This technology is being integrated into out every day lives.

The market is nascent and undiscovered by most which offers an huge upside potential as an investment.
