Between September 2009 & February 2016 there were 1,071 agri-pollution events in Wales

87 of them resulted in fish kills

In 2016, from March to December, there were 29 fish kills, including the first wipeout on the Llynfi (that resulted in no prosecution)

The Chair of @NatResWales wrote to @WGEnviroAgri expressing concern about the ‘unacceptable’ number of agri-pollution incidents & NRW’s determination to achieve a step-change

She urged WG to give priority the problem

That year there were 16 fish kills in Wales

2018

Concerned that @WGEnviroAgri had failed to put appropriate regulation or enforcement measures in place to deal with agricultural pollution @AfonyddCymru registered a formal complaint with the European Commission

In November 2018, HTV aired a program, 'Ruined Rivers'

Less than 48 hours later, @WGEnviroAgri issued a Written Statement outlining a whole-Wales approach to tackle agricultural pollution

That year there were 17 fish kills in Wales

December @WGEnviroAgri statement ‘point source & diffuse agri-pollution events continue to occur far too often, to the detriment of public health, rural economy & biodiversity’

@WGEnviroAgri ‘even more convinced of the need to take action to tackle agri-pollution’
