As many postgrad and postdoc fellowships calls are now opening, the recent news I am afraid may put off some great candidates from applying. So, I feel it's important to state the following: 1/

1) Most of us will never demand for you to work past your contractual daily hours
2) will never demand for you to work on weekends
3) will never deny you the human right to holidays and free time
4) sick days are sick days, doesn't matter how many you'll need to take 2/

To most of us your mental and physical health is paramount as nobody can work properly in a stressful, tense and unsupported environment 3/

That being said, please before you apply to any lab, do speak to the lab members to get a clear idea of the lab's environment. 4/

Scientific research can be a fabulous career and to me is the best job in the world! Just be wise to where you decide to start making your dreams come true! Best of luck!!
