SegWit support is finally coming to Bisq.
THREAD.
THREAD.
While segwit has of course been around for a while already, the bitcoinj library Bisq uses only merged full segwit support in March 2019.
. @oscarguindzberg completed work to update Bisq's fork of bitcoinj to v0.15 in May 2019, a necessary step on the way to full segwit support.
This work wasn't merged for a number of reasons, and further work was stalled. https://github.com/bisq-network/bitcoinj/issues/33

Earlier this year, stars began to align and Oscar submitted a detailed plan to support segwit throughout the Bisq wallet and Bisq trade protocol. https://github.com/bisq-network/proposals/issues/226
Around this time, an anonymous guarantor appeared who agreed to front the funds required to put Oscar's plan into motion.
The plan for this arrangement is detailed in the following proposal. https://github.com/bisq-network/proposals/issues/247

So...it's happening.
We're elated that the resources to develop, review, test, fund, and make this happen finally came together.

Note that this is an extensive endeavor and will take some months to deliver. The update will most likely be implemented as a hard fork.
See this project proposal for more details and updates. https://github.com/bisq-network/proposals/issues/226
