can enst fandom PLEASE stop diagnosing shu with DID when they have nothing but a surface level understanding of the condition
I don& #39;t claim to be an expert on DID either but it& #39;s the same damn shit that gets me heated up when I see people calling sleepy character stereotypes "narcolepsy" like no it fucking ISNT. you can& #39;t just read the wiki page and decide it& #39;s canon that& #39;s what a character has!
if canon DOESNT say a character has xyz condition then they DONT. what& #39;s so hard to grasp about that? you can& #39;t just go around diagnosing them with very serious conditions? do you know how fucking insulting that is?
if someone with medical experience with DID (either as a professional with experience working with DID or as someone who actually has it) can come up to me and tell me that yes, they think this is the case, then I& #39;ll believe it. but otherwise I will continue to be irritated.
Y& #39;all pull this fucking shit ALL THE TIME, especially with more ~interesting~ disorders and I& #39;m fucking over it. Take our diagnoses out of your fucking mouths unless it& #39;s canon or you ACTUALLY understand what it& #39;s like to have them.
There& #39;s a difference between the portrayal being poor/inaccurate but the condition being canon and fans deciding to willy-nilly decide character quirks are life-altering disorders. The former isn& #39;t much better, but honestly I personally find the latter more insulting.
it& #39;s been pointed out to me that in one of his stories I haven& #39;t read yet, natsume says this about him which is... dubious at best but I& #39;ll accept it& #39;s canon even if it highly bothers me still. (also natsume ur like 17 and don& #39;t even have a high school diploma, please)
I& #39;m going to leave this thread up though bc I think I still make a very valid point about a very frustrating behavior in fandom where disorders (god bless poor personality disorders because they always get the worst of it) have our issues taken very lightly.
