Jerry Jones says he "works" on the Randy Gregory situation "every other day" and he's "positive" about it. #Cowboys
Fortuitous for Mr. Jones to tell this to @1053thefan this morning, as I prepped to give a small update on Gregory's situation -- if you can view it that way.

So, here goes:
I was told Thursday evening by a source that the #Cowboys believe they'll hear news one way or another before Week 1.

This jives directly with what @SlaterNFL heard and reported last week (mid-September). And with this update, here's some key points to keep an eye one:
1. There is no guarantee the #NFL will make this TL true, especially given the current delay, but the #Cowboys feel confident a ruling is coming in the next several days.

2. If Gregory is to be available for W1, he'd have to logistically be reinstated by Monday. Why? (cont)
(2. cont) ...because he'd need time to clear COVID-19 protocol and be on the field by Wednesday to practice. Anything later risks him not qualifying for gameday roster -- when considering both injury risk (ramp up) and gameplanning.

(See next tweet for point No. 3)
3. It bodes well for Gregory that Jones is feeling "good" about the direction the application is headed, verdict-wise, but Roger Goodell still has the last say.

I'm told Gregory is in great health, mentally as well, and there have been no issues with drug testing. He's ready.
The only thing the #Cowboys and Randy Gregory can do now is continue to wait, but he's been pushing and the team is hopeful -- still -- they'll have him in 2020.

Again, they believe a verdict will come before Week 1 -- I'm told -- but time will tell if that's to happen.

End.
