A couple of weeks ago, I completed 1000 days of meditation in a row.

My biggest learnings from this journey below:

(A thread)
2/ Self-talk

A part of being an introvert is noisy internal chatter, but not all is positive and productive.

In the past, I wished I could just turn it off e.g., while trying to sleep.

With meditation, you learn a) which conversations to leave and b) when to leave them.
3/ Mood

My mood. e.g., after emotional peaks, normalizes more quickly back to my' resting neutral mood.'

Like how the bpm of trained athletes behaves after intense workouts - it goes down faster.

I still experience emotions intensely, I just 'recover' better.
4/ Productivity

The point about focus is obvious; my concentration increased a lot.

For me, the main thing, though, was handling stressful situations.

I had several situations in my work context where I looked back and thought:" How was I actually so calm here?"
5/ Instinct

With a less noisy mind, my instincts got sharper and more responsive.

While kitesurfing, you often need to decide fast based on your gut feel.

In stressful situations, those decisions have been more precise and calmer.
6/ Relationships

Meditation influenced my ability to listen to people openly and honestly.

This was def. not the biggest strength of mine in the past, but improved significantly with more quiet time.
7/ Perception

With increased awareness, I became more aware of everyday beauty.

I am often seeing small details in everyday life that make me happy - just like the sun reflecting in a puddle.
8/ A second perspective

I feel like with lots of meditation, you are building a second observer from your normal inner 'view.'

The observer has an entirely neutral mood and does not judge any of your actions but is always there and sees things as they are.
9/ Starting meditation

My grandma shared this quote with me a few years back. I see this with many people and myself from time to time.

"It is when your practice is rather greedy that you become discouraged with it." ― Shunryu Suzuki
10/ Final thought

Thanks, @andypuddicombe. Not sure if I would have done this without your voice lol.
