I try to not get involved in alma mater discourse, but last few months has seen some terrible decisions by the administration. Now the move to have a standalone exam with a 9 day notice. https://twitter.com/barandbench/status/1301533248971890688
Students have to appear...
using a computer device as per the detailed specifications that will be provided, including *video
and audio inputs*. NLSIU shall not be responsible for any connectivity issues, or failure of internet connection

Anyone given accessibility a thought?
It's bad enough people have to write one exam during the pandemic, they have to write CLAT, NLAT, NLUD' AILET.

This thread provides a good summary of things that are wrong with the exam format. https://mobile.twitter.com/youreontv/status/1301549244390629376
Like a friend rightly pointed out if NLS is worried about a zero year with no admissions because of its trimester system, might be a good idea to move to semesters (at least for a year but honestly, for good)
But they you might have NLS alums, the flagbearers of "merit" and soothsayers of "falling standards" pop up.
Not to forget the fee hike that determine who can access the space. The fee is 2.62 lakhs. Merely a difference of 3k for students in SC and ST categories who have to pay close to 2.59 lakhs. Though I guess this was always the case with the fees.
Consider also that this year NLS has all but suspended it's scholarship policy, instead encouraging students to take up long term loans from public sector banks. The 2015 scholarship policy too only offered instead free loans instead of fee waivers and now that's gone as well.
@SBAnlsiu did write a compelling representation questioning the change in policy but the administration has made a poor excuse citing non repayment of loans, when this policy has only ever been applied to 2/3 batches and students who may not be earning enough to repay the loans.
TL;DR a lot of decisions NLS admin has taken recently makes admissions and continuation of education hard for students from bahujan communities. Last few years have seen more students from smaller cities and even that might be undone with how they intend to carry out NLAT.
Also of course there is this sad fact: https://mobile.twitter.com/h_tejas/status/1301854190222761984
