Donald Trump is denying recent allegations about insulting World War II veterans. But he has a clear pattern of disrespect toward veterans and their families. THREAD:

Spring 1968: A seemingly healthy, newly graduated Donald Trump (who evaded the draft four times already while in college) conveniently is diagnosed with “bone spurs” and successfully dodges the draft at fifth time.

July 2015: on Senator, veteran, and POW John McCain : “He’s not a war hero, no he’s not a war hero.” ... “He’s a war hero because he got captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”

July 2016: Trump repeatedly attacks Khizr Khan - a gold star father who lost his son in combat - for speaking at the DNC, claiming that he too has “made a lot of sacrifices.” ...

He went further to attack Khan’s wife saying “I’d like to see his wife say something.”

August 2017: Trump attacks Richard Blumenthal calling him a “phony Vietnam con artist.”

October 2017: Trump forgets the name of slain army Sgt. La David Johnson while calling his widow. According to her, Trump also told her “he knew what he was signing up for.”

November 2018: Trump dismisses Admiral William McCraven, a former navy seal, as a “Hillary Clinton fan.” Continuing, he attacked McCraven for his involvement in the operation that killed Osama Bin Ladin saying it “would have been nicer if we got Bin Laden much sooner.”

February 2019: Donald Trump’s personal lawyer testified that Trump confided him him that he had never had bone spur surgery, refused to provide medics records of the incident, and told him “You think I’m stupid? I wasn’t going to Vietnam.”

March 2019: Nearly a year after his death, Trump renewed his attacks on John McCain saying “I was never a fan of John McCain and I never will be.”

April 2019: Trump continues his attacks on the now deceased Senator McCain saying he “did this nation a great disservice.”

January 2019: Trump says that retired four-star General Stanley McChrystal was gored by President Obama “like a dog”, that his mission was a “total failure”, and that he is known for his “big dumb mouth.”

June 2020: The New York Times reports that Donald Trump knee Putin was paying bounties to the Taliban to kill U.S. soldiers, and had done nothing about it.

September 2020: the Atlantic reports Donald Trump refused to attend a scheduled visit to Aiden-Marne American Cemetery saying that the cemetery was filled with “losers” and that they were “suckers” for getting killed.

This president has no respect or compassion for those who have fought and died for this nation. Is this our commander-in-chief?
